Maruca is the atelier where women’s and girls’ clothes and crocheted toys create a timeless universe where tradition, elegance and refinement are perfectly intertwined. With a passion for aesthetics, tradition and creativity, in 2014, Ionela Lupu transformed the dream of the little girl who crocheted and knitted at her grandmother’s urging, into a brand of handmade clothing items and toys.
Grandma’s treasure chest became the inspiration for a business that calls itself Maruca, with clothing products that quickly won over lovers of beauty and uniqueness.
Dolls with a story
Crocheted dolls, an important symbol in popular tradition, are a reference point for Maruca’s story and for Iona Lupu’s desire to preserve traditions and promote them as a good alternative to today’s toys. Rabbits, kittens, teddy bears, dolls, mice and other animal models come to life in the skilful hands of Maruca’s skilled craftsmen, who crochet them by hand and use hypoallergenic SuperBall filling. Limited edition clothes
The clothing collections are capsule lines, created in limited editions, and each clothing item is different. Maruca’s signature clothes have the preciousness of the aristocratic clothes Maruca (Princess Maria Cantacuzino) wore and fit the wearer, as an extension of her personality. Thus, all Maruca’s outfits are created from the highest quality materials (silk, velvet, linen, brocade, fine tulle and cotton) and are carefully sewn in the atelier.

Bespoke outfits are another option Maruca offers to those who visit her atelier. In Maruca’s atelier you can be the designer of your own outfit. Together with a Maruca consultant you can create the design, choose the colours and material, and your outfit will be created by our team with attention and care to detail. From the sketch to the final product, every detail is carefully created to achieve a clothing item that is above and beyond expectations. Originality is the invisible signature that marks each piece, because Maruca is first and foremost the answer to every little girl and woman’s desire to be special.
